LogoPersian Bandari – WRJ

WHERE: Dancer's Corner, White River Junction
TIME: 5:45-7:10 (85 minutes)
When: Wednesdays – March 29 - May 31 (no class April 12 & 19, May 24)

Bandari is an Iranian form of dance. Bandar means “port” and this style of dance can be found in some of the port towns in southern Iran. Bandari is very different because the sea trade brings in a mixture of ethnic influences.   You will see Arabic, Persian, Saudi Arabian, sub Saharan African and even Indian dance influences in this dance style.  Bandari is also a "big" dance - lots of movement, big shoulder shimmies, big hand movements, big hip moves and very social.  You will be dancing "with the group" as it is a celebratory dance.  The energy is up, up, UP!!

This class is open to second year Intermediate students who have performed at least Cane, Zills or Veil in any showcase to date, and it is also open to Advanced students. This will be a very fun, accessible and non-exlusive dance class (with a later option for performance) for any experienced intermediate or advanced dancer.
