WHEN: Tuesdays, May 19 – Aug 4 (No Zills classes but VEIL PEER REHEARSALS May 12, June 16 and July 14. ZILLS PEER REHEARSALS (but no regular class) July 21 and 28).   Please bring veils to class on May 19.  

DESCRIPTION:

This class is designed for intermediate and/or Tuesday students, as well as any advanced student who wants to have fun.  This class will function as an introduction to playing finger cymbals as well as instruction on a full choreography.  The choreography is currently taking shape in your Director’s mind (tee-hee) as a throw-back piece with a 1970’s lounge lizard vibe.  We will be using “Ameraba” music from this decade.  It is likely that there will be a cocktail lounge mise-en-scene and a little drama along with the dancing.  The choreography will be polished and staged during the final semester of the year for local students who choose to perform it in the show.  This class will be taught in person and it will also be broadcast live online.  Replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled.  Local students should make every effort to attend live.  This is a required class in the intermediate level sequence (including multiple technique semesters, veil, cane and zills).  Non-local students who will not be performing in the show are welcome and valued class members.  Taking this class does not automatically mean that you have agreed to perform it.

COST: Including the price of Zills, the class is $90 once per month for three months beginning the day you register (May, June, July).  If you already have zills, please reach out to me as we need to make sure they are standard performance zills (and not something else :))  Please let me know if you need a June/August payment schedule instead of May/June/July.  August is reserved for costume payments only.  The registration deadline is Friday May 15, after which time the price goes up $10 per month.  Please note that we cannot offer refunds, discounts for missed classes (although we encourage make-ups for this class in Beginner classes), transfers of registration/credit to other students, or refunds due to instructor illness, weather rescheduling or power outages.
