FALL SEMESTER 2025:
The theme for this Fall will be …. Stage Presence! If you’re new to Belly Dance, you might be thinking “Nice idea, but I can’t even dance yet!” Let’s start at the beginning. Yes, we start everyone at the beginning, so if you’re new to Belly Dance you will learn plenty of moves before we have fun with Stage Presence. Next problem: “But I don’t have any stage presence.” Do you walk down the street? Do you interact with friends or family? Then you are not a newcomer to Stage Presence. It’s with you wherever you go. We will take that energy and give it music to work with and moves that express the music. I love this theme because it is something you can take with you out into the world. We will work on the fundamentals of Beginner Belly Dance and, as we move into our choreographies, we’ll add in the special spices of feeling and expression, at a beginner level. My beginner dance classes are a place to pursue some “me time”, drop the concerns of the day at the door, and take a mental break from all of it. You will have fun while moving your body (yes, it’s exercise, but it’s the kind where you feel like you’re not exercising). You will connect to joy while strengthening the brain-body connection (even helping to prevent dementia, research has shown). My students range in age from 12-ish to 80-ish. We have mother-daughter pairs who attend class in-person as well as single retirees who dance on zoom from their living rooms. Whether your goal is to grow up, stay young or just step outside of time, Belly Dance will get you there. It will be interesting and engaging for both new and returning students. Using both fast and slow pieces (OK – definitely more fast pieces than slow), pop tunes and traditional songs, we will complete at least 7 short choreographies. You will leave the semester knowing how to Belly Dance, with plenty of performance pieces “under your hip belt”, as well as new pizazz to express yourself!
WEEKLY CLASS VIDEOS:
During the Beginner Belly Dance semester, one class per week will be recorded and made available to class participants on a
weekly basis. They will be available to you as long as you are enrolled in Beginner Belly Dance with Gina.

WHY DO ZOOM (OR IN PERSON) CLASSES AND NOT YOUTUBE OR SOMEONE ELSE?
Gina is constantly interacting with and giving feedback and encouragement to dancers. On Zoom, Gina does not teach to the camera. Gina teaches to the individual students who she is watching on her big screen monitor to give specific personal feedback on feet, weight placement, direction, arms, etc.
