DESCRIPTION & CURRICULUM:
Enjoy the magic, mystery and good fun of Belly Dance! This live online class is for students of all ages (10+), shapes, sizes and fitness levels. It is perfect for absolute beginners and it also progresses with new layers for returning beginners. New students: If you register by Sunday, Sept 17, you will get two Quick Start videos. Everyone learns new material or choreographies every week!! See details below! This is a one-year progressive curriculum focusing on Hips and Heels in Semester #1, Arms and Altitude in Semester #2, Face and Fingers in Semester #2 and Full Body Flow for Semester #4.
FALL SEMESTER 2023:
Continue with DOUBLE THE DANCE this Fall (2 for 1 classes)!
Our focus for this fall will be the "Stage Presence," but don't worry - you don't have to get on stage! The emphasis will be on feeling the music and how it is presented by you, the dancer. The class begins with the basic Beginner Belly Dance movement repertoire, and, during the second half of the semester, we will explore different expressions of the music related to theme, tempo and rhythm. "Moving your limbs" is one thing, but "embodying the music" is the fruit that we will be picking during this semester. It is never, ever too soon to learn Stage Presence. True fact - most people don't use it for the stage, but rather, at work, walking down the sidewalk, wearing that new dress, entering a room full of strangers. Bottom line: If you're a new dancer, this will be a light, bright introduction to the world of Belly Dance AND you'll come out knowing 5 or 6 new choreographies. Returning beginners: This class will help put the sparkle and polish on your dancing, moving it from "beginner recital energy" to a presentation which is much more charismatic and stage-worthy.
FREE QUICK START VIDEO BONUSES:
New students who register by Sunday, Sept 17 will receive access to two videos that explain and drill the basic repertoire of traveling and stationary beginner moves. These give you the jump start you need to succeed, and they are available to you as long as you are enrolled in Beginner Belly Dance with Gina. Returning students automatically get their new Quick Start videos on the first day of class.
WHY DO ZOOM (OR IN PERSON CLASSES) WITH GINA? WHY NOT YOUTUBE OR SOMEONE ELSE?
Gina is constantly interacting with and giving feedback and encouragement to dancers. On Zoom, Gina does not teach to the camera. Gina teaches to the individual students who she is watching on her big screen monitor to give specific personal feedback on feet, weight placement, direction, arms …. the whole shebang.
WEEKLY CLASS VIDEOS:
During the Beginner Belly Dance semester, one class per week will be recorded and made available to class participants on a weekly basis. They will be available to you as long as you are enrolled in Beginner Belly Dance with Gina.
FAQs: See FAQ’s page regarding foul weather, make-up classes and other issues.
