Dance Like Shakira!
WHERE: Live online + recordings here: www.GinaDances.Podia.com
WHEN: Wednesdays, 8 weeks beginning April 29.
DESCRIPTION: This class will be broadcast live on zoom and high quality replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled. I swear that I was planning this class BEFORE “Shakira at the Super Bowl” was ever announced. And imagine – I felt funny about what a “throwback topic” I thought this would be! Then the Super Bowl rocked the world and once again I knew that God existed because … who else could have engineered this strange coincidence? Luck, Destiny and Religion aside, Shakira is partly responsible for the Belly Dance boom of the early 2000’s and I thought it would be fun to dance to one of her songs and learn some of her signature moves. She is half Lebanese and half Colombian, and she has received Belly Dance training. Her Super Bowl performance was a fusion dance, including, but not limited to, Middle Eastern dance. Her range of motion as a Belly Dancer is incredible and while her presentation of Belly Dance could be considered her own “home style”, the actual moves she uses are a rockin’ good time. The class is open to any Level 2 student, except those who were beginners in the 2019 show.
PLEASE NOTE: All classes above beginner level require instructor permission (by email).
