WHERE: Live online + recordings here: https://GinaDances.Podia.com
When: Thursdays, March 25 - May 13 (no regular class April 29, but there will be peer rehearsals of 2020 show pieces during this week).
DESCRIPTION: It had to finally happen - DOUBLE SWORD!!! Get on the cutting edge (hah) with the Raqs Salaam Dance Theater's first ever Double Sword choreography. Two blades are always better than one. We will be using two very lightweight inexpensive Indian swords. They come with wood sheaths covered in velvet with gold trim - especially pretty. In case you are trying to envision this, please do not envision the continual balance of two swords on your head for an entire dance (that would be boring). There are many hand manipulations, double sword shapes and multiple body point balances that spice up double sword work. We also will not be using both swords at all times. This is an opportunity to improve your sword technique and to broaden it. This class will be best suited for students who have already danced with a sword OR who are on the unflappable side. I am amenable to including intrepid souls (you know who you are), but I am not teaching basic balancing in this class.
