DESCRIPTION: This class will be broadcast live online and high quality replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled. Your first question is "why is the word 'crazy' in the class description at all?" Answer: Because Drum Solos are ALWAYS crazy. And this one will be LESS crazy. With this class, I would like to target either students who have never danced to a Drum Solo (beginner class does not count : ) or those for whom it has been a respectably long time. My choreographies tend to "skew upward" in skill level and I am going to make a concerted effort to keep this in the "accessible" range of challenge. I am hoping that it will land in the upper Intermediate/lower Advanced level. This probably means that intermediate students will feel challenged in an invigorating way, and some of my long-time dancers won't have to "pin the needle". Drum solos are very tick-tocky and tend to not cover a lot of stage space - good for tight areas. They are shorter choreographies and we will use this choreography to nail down some of the trickier moves learned in the Intermediate Winter semester. The other thing is that we are going to work at an acceptable pace, learning rather than cramming. This means that we may or may not finish 100% of the music cut. If not (we will get darned close for sure), it will be finished in the summer, but we are prioritizing quality experience over quantity choreography for this Spring in this class. We will aim for learning at a totally enjoyable pace.
