DESCRIPTION:
I want to start with this commentary:  this won't be your average cane dance class.  The song is beyond-the-beyond badass and you will LOVE it!!  OK, now the basic info .....  Learning to dance with a cane is an important step in an intermediate dancer’s development.  It was my favorite prop from the first moment I picked it up.  Cane dance comes from southern Egypt and features a catchy rhythm and bouncy moves.  With attitude!  Cane dance is a super blend of personality, folkloric dance moves and manipulating a prop while moving - always a challenge for newer dancers.   All experienced dancers have learned to dance with a cane and its like riding a bike – a bit of a challenge at the start, but once you learn it, you’ll always know how to do it.  Expect fun and a rhythm that simply grabs you and pulls you in.  Cane dance is also a good way to let off a little steam!  This class is the right choice for any intermediate student who has not yet performed with a cane, and any student who would like a refresher run with this prop. It is strongly suggested that local students show up in person.  This is a required class in the Intermediate level sequence  (including multiple technique semesters, veil, cane and zills) prior to or co-temporaneous with taking any Intermediate or Advanced classes during 2023.

PLEASE NOTE: All classes above beginner level require instructor permission (by email).  Please note that everyone who attends in person needs to be vaccinated.  Masks are optional.
