WHERE: Live online + class recordings!! See https://GinaDances.Podia.com
WHEN: Tuesdays, January 12 - March 2, no regular class Feb 15, but peer rehearsals of 2020 Show choreographies will happen this week.
This class will be live online and high quality replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled. This class is designed for 1st year and returning intermediate students, as well as any other advanced student who would like to work on intermediate technique and beginning cane . The main focus of this class is introducing, drilling, and strengthening the foundations for Level 2. Posture, hands, muscle control, fluidity, grace, layering, isolations and complex combinations create the backbone of this class. This particular semester will also introduce students to dancing with the "belly dance cane", properly known as the Assaya, and we will begin a bodacious choreography to a very fun song. Please note that this class will be "small-apartment-friendly" meaning that it will require LESS space than dancing with a veil might require. Larger cane moves (like spinning) will be saved for later in the year when we can go outdoors. Most cane dance is very compact. People who have danced with Zills and Veil will find cane dance refreshingly straightforward and easier than the other two props This is a required class in the intermediate level sequence (including multiple technique semesters, veil, cane and zills). Basically, we are going to have a great time!
PLEASE NOTE: All classes above beginner level require instructor permission (by email).
