Mahragan Choreography, Winter 2022
WHERE: Live in person at Dancer's Corner with live broadcast online + recordings here: https://GinaDances.Podia.com
WHEN: Thursdays, January 20 - April 7.
DESCRIPTION: Mahragan is a new form of Shaabi music and dance that originated pre-2010 and took off during the Arab Spring. Mahragan is a blend of electronica/shaabi/rap/hip hop/rave/reggaeton music and dance. While it began as an underground movement, during the past 5 years Mahragan music has exploded into a very popularized and commercialized genre in Egypt that everyone knows and many love, while still remaining controversial. This dance style is complex, athletic and very different than anything we have ever studied. It requires strength, agility and the ability to learn a new dance style while doing some hot sexy Belly Dance moves. The class will be taught live, broadcast live and also recorded for later viewing. This class is open to any 2021 Advanced level dancer. Class requires a minimum of 10 students.
LOCATION: Dancer's Corner, Pine Street, White River Junction, next to Stern's Produce. Zoom link will be provided
