TIME: 6:00-7:15
WHEN: Wednesdays, January 18 - March 15, no class Feb 22 and March 1.
DESCRIPTION: At the time of this web page creation, it is beginning to get dark at 3 pm, but solstice sundown isn't the only reason for the name of this class. This class will create a pop choreography using LED hip scarves (included) and, as it moves toward performance, even more lights (possible LED bras, rings, props, etc.) The focus will be on creating interesting light patterns using advanced Middle Eastern dance moves. This won't be a tick-tocky stationery class. It is likely that we will use bigger movements and a lot of traveling steps in order to create interesting designs. The movement will be authentic, but be advised that the song is a Middle Eastern fusion piece that uses a rock and roll beat (its NOT a western song that you'll know, don't worry). Like veils, lights don't lie. They give accurate feedback. If the lights aren't going in the right direction, neither are your hips. Please note that you can take this class by "video only" if you like, but local students are strongly urged to attend class. Be aware that we will dim lights for certain parts of class, but not a lot. Most of the class will be taught in full light. It will be taught live, broadcast live and also recorded for later viewing. This class is open to any 2022 Intermediate or Advanced level dancer. Class requires a minimum of 10 students.
