THERE ARE TWO TRACKS FOR THIS CLASS, REMOTE (IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 30 MINUTES AWAY) AND IN-PERSON. IN-PERSON STUDENTS CAN ELECT TO REGISTER AS REMOTE AND HAVE THE BENEFITS OF REMOTE STUDENTS (SMALL PRICE DIFFERENCE). Each class will finish with a summary of moves and/or combinations. Remote students will be encouraged (not required) to use the summary of moves at the end of the class video (uploaded within about 48 hours) to send an unrehearsed couple minute video to Gina of the student performing the moves before the next class. Gina will spend some time with your video and then give you targeted feedback in the next class. As stated below, this is a VERY important technique class and careful observation and feedback are more necessary to a student's success (and ability to move up) in this class than in any other class Gina teaches. This method was employed very successfully during 2022.
DESCRIPTION:
This class is designed for new and returning Intermediate students, as well as any other advanced student who would like to work on Intermediate technique. If you were enrolled in Tuesday classes during 2022, this is the correct class for you during the Winter of 2023, even if you have already performed veil, cane and zills. For Winter 2023 the class will be operating at a higher level than during Winter 2022 since there are few new students entering the class. The main focus of this class is introducing, drilling, and strengthening the foundations for Level 2 Belly Dance. Posture, arms, hands, muscle control, fluidity, grace, layering, isolations and complex combinations create the backbone of this class. This class will be taught in person, it will also be broadcast live online and replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled. This class will end between 7:00 and 7:10 depending on how many students are studying remotely. This particular class requires a great deal of teacher involvement with remote students, unlike Advanced classes. The material is foundational to further Intermediate and Advanced study (ie you have to get it right, and it is my job to ensure that, even if you are remote, that you do get it), thus the possible need for extra time in class. It is strongly suggested that local students show up in person. This is a required class in the Intermediate level sequence (including multiple technique semesters, veil, cane and zills) prior to taking any Intermediate or Advanced classes during 2023.

LOCATION: Hanover Rec Center (this is the Richard W. Black Center NOT the Black Family Center) at 48 Lebanon Street in Hanover, next to Ledyard Bank. A Zoom link will be provided for remote students.

COST: $65 in person and $79 for remote students (we will spend time working together via weekly video review) per month for three months beginning the day you register. The registration deadline is Friday, January 13, after which time the price goes up $10 per month. Please note that we cannot offer refunds, discounts for missed classes (although we encourage make-ups for this class in Beginner classes), transfers of registration/credit to other students, or refunds due to instructor illness, weather rescheduling or power outages.
