WHERE: Live online + recordings here: www.GinaDances.Podia.com
TIME: 7:15-8:30 (75 minutes)
When: Thursdays, 8 weeks beginning April 30.
This class will be broadcast live on zoom and high quality replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled. This will be a fun and creative piece involving different Middle Eastern rhythms. It will involve translating the drum rhythm into dance moves. The idea is that the drummer plays a measure or two, then the dancers move to the same rhythm while playing finger cymbals. It may involve other groups too, TBA. Will Wright, of the Middle Eastern music ensemble, Zaatar, will help create this piece and he will be our accompanist in the November show. This is not a beginner finger cymbal piece. If you cannot play zills reliably, choose a different class. This class is best suited to people with pretty good zill playing skills who can move and play at the same time and are willing to work to improve their skills. This class will most likely require demonstrated zill and movement capability (ie an audition) in order to be chosen to perform this piece in the November show.
PLEASE NOTE: All classes above beginner level require instructor permission (by email) even if you have registered in advanced classes in the past.
