DESCRIPTION:
Candle Dance is a theatrical Belly Dance topic that I have not taught in almost 20 years. It involves dancing while holding two (LED) tealight candles in glass holders. It will evoke a ceremonial and mysterious backdrop for Show 2025. There are particular arm moves that are only done with candles (and sometimes fans) that are interesting and fun to learn. It is dramatic because of the holds, static positions, spins and stops which are a part of what is often called (rightly or wrongly) “Pharaonics” in the Belly Dance world. The dance creates candle light patterns, and a kaleidoscopic experience for the audience. The choreography will be very accessible for all levels, relaxing and fun for my Wednesday 6:00 group. This dance will set the stage and open the show for our 21st Annual Showcase.

COST: $80 per month (including 2 candles and 2 candle holders), once per month for three months, beginning the day you register. The registration deadline is Friday March 7 due to the need to order the props. Price goes up to $90/month after March 7. Please note that there are no refunds, discounts for missed classes (although we encourage make-ups at other locations), transfers of registration/credit to other students, or refunds due to instructor illness, weather rescheduling or power outages.
