DESCRIPTION:
This class is designed for new and returning intermediate students, as well as any advanced student who would like to work on zills technique and partial choreography.  If you have not performed zills at the INTERMEDIATE level, this is the correct class for you during the Spring of 2024.   Gina will purchase the zills for you, but if you already own them, let her know by March 15.  Zills, aka, Finger Cymbals, are an instrument played by dancers.  It is part of the Intermediate curriculum, along with learning to dance with the veil and cane.   It has a learning curve, all its own, which begins with walking while playing zills.  We work up to dancing with zills.  After learning to play zills, this class will begin a zills choreography which will be continued later in the year.   The focus for this semester is learning zills rather than completing a choreography.  The choreography will be finished in the late summer/fall for local students who choose  to perform it in the show.  This class will be taught in person, it will also be broadcast live online, and replays will be made available to everyone who is enrolled.  Local students are required to attend this class in person unless ill due to the need to hear the zills in time with the music.  For remote students, please note that while Gina will be able to critique movement as usual, critiquing zill playing will have to be accomplished slightly differently due to varying internet connection speeds.   This is a required class in the intermediate level sequence  (including multiple technique semesters, veil, cane and zills) prior to or concomitant with taking any intermediate or advanced classes during 2024.  Masks are optional.

COST:  $80 once per month  (including zills) for three months beginning the day you register or $73 per month without zills.  There are three payments for this semester.  The registration deadline is Friday, March 15 (due to my need to order zills for you), after which time the price goes up $10 per month.  Please note that we cannot offer refunds, discounts for missed classes (although we encourage make-ups for this class in Beginner classes), transfers of registration/credit to other students, or refunds due to instructor illness, weather rescheduling or power outages.
